We are delighted to announce the release of EUD’s latest toolkit: “Maximising the Effectiveness of Your Women’s Committee in the Context of National Associations of the Deaf”. This comprehensive resource is designed to empower Women’s Committees within National Associations of the Deaf (NADs) to become pivotal advocates for gender equality in the Deaf community.
The toolkit provides a structured guide for creating, managing, and utilising Women’s Committees to monitor and implement key EU and international legislation, including the Istanbul Convention, the UN CEDAW, the CRPD, the EU Directive Combatting Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence, and the EU Gender Equality Strategy.
Incorporating an intersectional approach, this toolkit addresses the diverse experiences of Deaf individuals, considering the interplay of race, ethnicity, language, gender identity, disability, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, and age. It is aligned with EUD’s Intersectionality Statement and seeks to ensure that advocacy efforts reflect the true breadth of challenges faced by the Deaf community.
We encourage all NADs to make use of this toolkit as a practical and strategic resource to strengthen their Women’s Committees and contribute meaningfully to advancing gender equality.
