EUD has nominated Alexandre Bloxs, EUD Policy Manager, as a candidate for the Executive Committee of the EDF. Alexandre is a deaf lawyer from Belgium, currently serving as Policy Manager at EUD, teaching in the Advanced Master’s programme in Human Rights at UCLouvain Saint-Louis Bruxelles, and acting as President of the French Belgian Federation of the Deaf (FFSB).  The EDF elections will take place in May 2026 during the EDF General Assembly in Cyprus.

This nomination follows the decision of Humberto Insolera not to renew his mandate on the EDF Board. Through this candidacy, EUD aims to continue contributing to EDF’s work to advance the rights of persons with disabilities in Europe, while ensuring strong representation of deaf people and sign language users within the leadership of the European disability movement.

With extensive experience in EU affairs, disability rights and human rights advocacy, Alexandre brings both professional expertise and lived experience as a deaf person. If elected, he will bring his extensive network and policy experience to support EDF’s mission of advocating for the human rights of more than 100 million persons with disabilities across Europe.

EUD would also like to express its sincere gratitude to Humberto Insolera for his dedication and contributions during his eight years of service as a member of the EDF Executive Committee.
