After giving an interview to SVT (link) and delivering a training to SDR’s Members (article link), EUD Policy Manager, Alexandre Bloxs took the opportunity of being in Stockholm to hold a technical meeting with the Policy Team and Project Team of SDR.
During this meeting, Alexandre updated the SDR staff on the latest developments of the European Union under the European Disability Rights Strategy, and the strategy of EUD to increase our advocacy work through the new legislature after the EU Elections. During the meeting, Alexandre and SDR also discussed how SDR can support EUD advocacy work by reaching out to Swedish MEPs. Furthermore, we discussed areas of cooperation in reaching the legal recognition of 30 EU National Sign Languages by the European Union.
Ultimately, during the workshop, the topic of Artificial Intelligence was raised several times by SDR, highlighting the necessity for EUD to cover this topic in its upcoming policy work as well as through projects.
The European Union of the Deaf would like to thank SDR for their warm welcome, their strong support of our work and their commitment to fulfilling the human rights of deaf people to their national sign language!
EUD remains at the disposal of all its members to provide any technical support to their policy and advocacy work.
