EUD and EFHOH announce the launch of a European survey on relay services!

A graphic announces a joint EUD and EFHOH survey to map relay services in Europe, with related icons and a dotted map of Europe in the background.
The European Union of the Deaf (EUD) and the European Federation of Hard of Hearing People (EFHOH) are jointly conducting a survey to map relay services across Europe.Relay services, including video relay services (VRS), text relay services (TRS) and speech relay services, are essential for accessible telecommunication for deaf, hard of hearing and other users.

This survey maps how these services operate across Europe, looking at their type, availability, organisation and funding, to identify good practices and highlight gaps in policy and regulation. The timing is significant: the European Commission’s proposed Digital Networks Act (DNA) is set to replace the European Electronic Communications Code (EECC) within the coming years.

EUD and EFHOH advocate that the DNA should enforce a 24/7 provision obligation on Member States, ensuring relay services are available to all users at any time. Evidence on the current state of relay services across Europe is therefore more important than ever.👥 Who should respond?

This survey is intended for:

• National Associations of the Deaf and organisations representing hard of hearing people

• Relay service providers

• National telecommunications regulatory authorities

• Experts with reliable knowledge of relay services in a specific country

Please feel free to share this survey with any relevant organisations or service providers in your country.Your input will make a real difference in advancing accessible telecommunications across Europe!
