Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, is proud to be the host for the annual EUD Workshop, Seminar and General Assembly, which will be held at the IDA Conference Centre and the Copenhagen Deaf Club from 17 to 20 May 2012. Copenhagen was chosen as the host city for the annual EUD General Assembly due to Denmark holding the current Presidency of the EU.
EUD staff are working in close co-operation with the Danish Deaf Association (DDL) to organise the events. Over 130 people from 31 EUD member and affiliated member countries have already announced their arrival in Copenhagen.
There will be many different events during the four-day programme. On the first day, there will be two workshops for official EUD delegates. The first workshop will concentrate on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). The second workshop will be about the SignSpeak Project, which was an EUD partner project.
On the second day, there will be the annual EUD seminar entitled "Deaf Elderly Citizens - an Asset, not a Burden". We are focusing on Active Ageing, as 2012 is the European Year for Active Ageing. The seminar is organised jointly by EUD and the Danish Deaf Association and is open for all everyone who is interested. Registration is required beforehand.
The EUD annual General Assembly will take place on 19 and 20 May, where delegates and the Board will discuss about the achievement of EUD's work programme and also other crucial events that will affect, directly or indirectly the Deaf Community.
The EUD Board and staff are looking forward to welcoming all delegates and visitors to Copenhagen.
